be nice

Cheerleaders are trained to match. They are trained to be precise, choreographed, and perform as a well-oiled machine. They wear the same thing to camp, practices, and on the stage. Hair in the same style, same bow, same makeup. Same uniform & same shoes. Cheerleaders are a team, part of a sport and live in a world of aspiring to be better. Their attitude exudes confidence that comes from within. Coaches build their teams up to carry a bravado that translates to higher points in the eyes of those who judge. Cheerleaders are expected to support their team mates while hoping to be better than their competition.

In everyday life, outside of the gym, off the sidelines and off the competition stage…. your entire community becomes your team.

Except, with the community as your team, not everyone matches. Not everyone is exactly like you. They may not be precise in actions that you may find “easy”, and most of us don’t function as well-oiled machines. (Hello, Mondays.)

So, regardless of what we wear, how we look, who we hang out with, what sports we play, what team we sit with, or what country, state or city we’re from… why can’t we support each other? Build each other up to carry that bravado that translates into courage to do something better, or to do something great that the person has never tried before. Give each other the positive attitude that exudes confidence from within, no matter how much they differ from you in looks, hobbies, and culture. Support the entire community that holds your team, and everyone in it.

Support the girl who sits next to you in math class that doesn’t play a sport and prefers to write novels.

Support the boy you see at the grocery store who enjoys the stage as you do, but prefers to sing on it.

Support the teacher you see in class who has a daughter born with special abilities and wants to be a cheerleader just like you.

Support the quiet boy you see in the car next to you at the stoplight who just learned something that puts him over the edge as he considers ending his life.

You don’t have to know these people, and you don’t have to even know their names, but you can still support them.

All Bows’ “Be Nice” Collection aims to promote a positive & supportive community within our cheer world & outside of cheer. Positive mannerisms can affect everyone around you. Being nice is the easiest and most effective way to support one another. YOU can be the cheerleader someone needs in their life. Start with simply being nice.
